  • Abstract:
Value creation throughout the lifecycle of building assets is an essential aspect of sustainability. Value emergence throughout the lifecycle process is an important aspect of sustainable design. In this paper, sustainable building design (SBD) is presented as a philosophical dynamic approach for creating value throughout the lifecycle of building assets. SBD uses both active and passive design strategies to create functional, durable, ecological and energy-efficient buildings. These design aspects are a prerequisite to provide flexibility in use and high levels of comfort, health and safety for occupants. This paper outlines a framework based on a conception of end values for identifying, measuring and aggregating SBD values throughout the lifecycle of building assets.
